The recent failure of the FDA to approve the license for Provenge, (sipuleucel-T) has stunned the prostate cancer community.

Prostate Cancer is a crisis in the United States. This year, over 220,000 of us will be diagnosed and 27,500 of us will die.  Our disease strikes men and devastates our partners, wives, children and friends.

There are only two treatments available to those of us who have advanced or recurrent prostate cancer, hormone manipulation and Docetaxel.  Both of these therapies offer us a very limited benefit while diminishing our quality of life.

We need new treatments now. We need treatments that allow us the joy of living and extend our time here on earth. Today.

The FDA's failure to grant approval for Provenge has sealed the fate of many of us.

We want to live.  We want our fathers, brothers, husbands, partners, cousins and friends to live. We want the chance to beat our disease.

We call upon you, the FDA, to reconsider your position.  We are terminally ill, we are going to die and we don't have enough options.  We want to determine the course of our lives by altering the course of our disease.  Please do not deny us.
